Using this site

By visiting or using carnegiestrategy.org, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

Who we are

Carnegie Strategy Group is an independent, student-run organization at Carnegie Mellon University. We are not an official entity of the University, and we are not affiliated with any political party, candidate, or committee. Nothing on this site is authorized by any candidate or candidate’s committee.

Views and analysis here belong to CSG members. They do not represent Carnegie Mellon University, its faculty, or any party, candidate, or committee.

Information, not advice

Everything on this site, including our research briefs and the State AI Sandbox Tracker, is general policy research offered for information only. It is not legal, regulatory, financial, lobbying, or other professional advice. Laws and agency practice change, so confirm eligibility and obligations with qualified counsel and the administering agency before relying on anything here.

The interactive models on our Data & Analytics page use simulated data to illustrate our methods. They do not describe real voters, precincts, or client results.

No client relationship

Visiting the site, emailing us, joining our list, or requesting a brief does not create a consulting or client relationship, and it does not create any duty of confidentiality. An engagement begins only under a written agreement that both sides sign. Until then, please do not send us confidential information.

Accuracy and sources

We work to verify what we publish, and the tracker shows each entry’s verification level and date. Even so, information can be incomplete, out of date, or wrong, and we rely on third-party sources we do not control. If you spot an error, tell us at the address below and we will look into it.

Password-protected pages

Some pages, such as the State AI Sandbox Tracker, ask for a password, which we share at our discretion. Please do not post it publicly or try to bypass the prompt. We may change or remove access at any time. The prompt limits casual access and is not a security guarantee, so treat the content as non-confidential.

Acceptable use

Please do not:

  • interfere with or overload the site;
  • try to reach areas or data you are not authorized to access;
  • use the site to break the law or to mislead others; or
  • suggest that CSG, its members, or Carnegie Mellon University endorse you, your organization, or your product.

Ownership and use of content

The text, design, graphics, name, and logo of Carnegie Strategy Group belong to CSG unless noted. You may quote short excerpts of our research with attribution and a link back to the source. For anything more, such as republishing or commercial use, please ask first. Third-party names, logos, photographs, and source materials belong to their owners.

Third-party links

The site links to outside websites and sources. We do not control them, and a link is not an endorsement.

No warranties

The site and its content are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, and uninterrupted availability.

Limits on liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, CSG and its officers, members, and volunteers are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any loss arising from your use of, or reliance on, the site or its content. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited.

Changes

We may update the site and these terms from time to time. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms. The date at the top shows the latest version.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
